12 O'Clock Rock is a program about underground rock, particularly self-released and small label vinyl. Most of the program consists of newly released seven-inchers (yes, 7" singles & EPs--we told you the Industry claims these things don't exist. We're here to prove differently). It airs on the 112,000 watt FM station KPFK, Los Angeles, which can be heard throughout Southern California, from Santa Barbara to Santa Monica, to San Bernardino, to San Diego, on 90.7 FM every Saturday night. 12 O'Clock Rock began airing on December 7, 1980 and celebrated its seventeenth anniversary on December 7, 1997. At 50 tracks a week, that's a lot of unheard music, yet it's still only a fraction of the music out there.
